Frequently Asked Questions

Question What is the FAS system now in operation at the Bridgetown Port?

Answer Up until July 1998, the Shipping line or its Agent was responsible for the payment of landing, storage and delivery charges on behalf of the importer/consignee. These charges were then recovered by the Line or its Agent. Now, except in the case of NVOCC's, the importer/consignee must pay these charges directly to the Barbados Port Authority. There is therefore no additional expense to the importer/consignee.
